During your time at Torrance Meridian Academy, you may need to join Zoom meetings for activities such as your house stand-up or expeditions. Many of these meetings, like your expeditions and house meetings, are managed through Sora Home!
You can join these meetings from Sora Home directly or from your Google calendar.
Things to Know
Sora Home generates a unique Zoom meeting link for each of your expedition and house meetings. It is important to join directly from Sora Home rather than bookmarking a Zoom link. This helps keep meetings secure and ensures your attendance is registered in Sora Home.
Whenever you open a Zoom meeting link from Sora Home, you will first go to a check-in page. This step confirms your attendance and provides extra security before the meeting begins.
Sora Home creates events on your Google Calendar for experience meetings and house meetings!
You'll always use your etusd.org school Google account to join meetings.
Finding Meeting Links
Home Page
On your Sora Home page, you will see a Join Session box whenever you have an upcoming expedition. Click Join to open the Zoom meeting check-in page.
Calendar in Sora Home
You can also find meeting links in your Sora Home calendar. Each event has the link built in. When you click on it, you will be taken to the check-in page before joining the meeting.
Google Calendar
Sora Home creates events and automatically invites you to any experience or house standup meeting. These meeting events have https://torrance.soraschools.com/ links embedded that you can click to join the meeting.
Note that these app.soraschools.com links are unique for each session, so always make sure to head to the specific day's meeting event to open your meeting link.
Checking In and Joining the Meeting
When you open a meeting link, you will be taken to the Sora Home check-in page. Click Check-in and Join to open your meeting.
If you aren't signed into Sora Home, you'll be prompted to sign in first before you can join.
If the meeting has already happened or is happening in the future, this button will be greyed out.
Why am I being asked to sign into Google for my meetings?
Many TMA meetings require authentication (your etusd.org email) for added security alongside your Sora Home check-in page.
This includes, house standup meetings, expeditions, and assembly meetings along with other school event links. Here's what you can expect to see when joining those meetings.
You'll join these meetings just like you would from your Sora Home or Google calendar.
Then you'll be taken to a Google sign-in page. Choose your TUSD Google account to continue.
(You may be prompted to sign in by your browser if you haven't already!)
Once you've selected your Sora Google account (or signed into your Sora Google account), you should now be able to join your Sora Zoom meeting!
